Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Smart Pool AI, including the iOS app and the Amazon Alexa Skill (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, linking your pool system, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Description of Service
Smart Pool AI enables you to control a compatible Pentair IntelliCenter®, Pentair ScreenLogic® (EasyTouch, IntelliTouch), or Jandy® iAquaLink® (iQ20, eXO) pool automation system via the Smart Pool AI iPhone app, Android app, Kiosk web app, Siri Shortcuts, iOS Home Screen widgets, Amazon Alexa voice skill, and Google Home integration. The Service is provided on a monthly subscription basis.
2. Authorization to Access Pool System
By using the Service, you expressly grant Smart Pool AI permission to access your pool automation system on your behalf. Depending on the system you connect:
- Pentair IntelliCenter: Smart Pool connects using your IntelliCenter email and password through Pentair's cloud gateway.
- Pentair ScreenLogic: Smart Pool connects using your system name and PIN through Pentair's ScreenLogic remote gateway. Your PIN is used only to authenticate with Pentair and is never stored on our servers.
- Jandy iAquaLink: Smart Pool connects using your iAquaLink email and password through Zodiac Group's iAquaLink cloud service. Your credentials are used only to authenticate and are never stored on our servers.
This access includes pool and spa configuration, equipment status and operational settings, temperature setpoints and heat source preferences, location information (city, state, ZIP code) associated with your pool installation, and account information such as your name and email address.
This information is used solely to provide app functionality — including remote control, regional features such as temperature display, customer support, and service-related communications. Your passwords and PINs are never stored by Smart Pool AI. We do not share, sell, or exchange your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. Subscription & Billing
- Smart Pool AI is offered as a monthly recurring subscription. The iOS app is billed through Apple App Store; the Alexa Skill is billed through the Amazon Alexa Skills store.
- Billing occurs automatically on the same date each month.
- Prices are subject to change with reasonable advance notice.
- All subscription fees are non-refundable. This includes partial months, unused periods following cancellation, and any period during which the Service was unavailable due to circumstances outside our control.
- You may cancel your iOS subscription at any time through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. You may cancel your Alexa subscription through the Alexa app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
4. How Smart Pool Connects to Your Equipment
Smart Pool communicates with your pool system through each manufacturer's own cloud interface — the same interfaces used by their official apps. Smart Pool connects on your behalf, using your credentials, to control your own equipment. No additional hardware is required and nothing is physically connected to your pool controller.
- Pentair IntelliCenter: Connects through Pentair's internet-facing cloud gateway (the same gateway used by Pentair's official app and home automation platforms such as Home Assistant). Requires remote access to be enabled on your IntelliCenter controller.
- Pentair ScreenLogic: Connects through Pentair's ScreenLogic remote login gateway using your system name and PIN.
- Jandy iAquaLink: Connects through Zodiac Group's iAquaLink cloud service using your iAquaLink account credentials.
Smart Pool AI is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Pentair plc, Zodiac Group, or any of their subsidiaries. "Pentair," "IntelliCenter," and "ScreenLogic" are registered trademarks of Pentair plc. "Jandy" and "iAquaLink" are registered trademarks of Zodiac Group. These names are used only to describe compatibility.
⚠️ Third-Party Integration Dependency: Smart Pool depends on Pentair's, Zodiac Group's, and other manufacturers' cloud interfaces remaining accessible. These third parties may update their firmware, APIs, or infrastructure in a way that affects third-party connectivity, or they may discontinue their cloud services entirely. In the unlikely event this occurs, we will work quickly to restore compatibility — but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service and are not responsible for disruptions caused by manufacturer changes.
⚠️ Integration Discontinuation: If a manufacturer closes or restricts their integration in a way that makes the Service partially or fully inoperable for users of that system, Smart Pool AI is not liable for any resulting loss of service. No refunds will be issued as a result of a manufacturer discontinuing or restricting third-party access to their systems. In such an event, Smart Pool AI will communicate the situation clearly and work to restore service or provide alternative options where possible.
5. Pool Safety & Disclaimer of Liability
⚠️ Pool Safety Warning: Smart Pool AI controls real physical equipment — pumps, heaters, lights, and water features. Automated or voice-activated commands can cause equipment to start or stop unexpectedly. ALL COMMANDS ARE SENT USING YOUR OWN POOL SYSTEM CREDENTIALS AND YOUR OWN POOL CONFIGURATION. You are solely responsible for the safe operation of your pool and all connected equipment. Never rely solely on a voice assistant or app for safety-critical operations. Always ensure manual and physical overrides are available and accessible.
Smart Pool AI is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that commands will execute as expected.
- We are not liable for any damage, injury, property loss, equipment malfunction, flooding, overheating, or any other harm arising from the use or inability to use this Service.
- We are not liable for incorrect commands being executed, commands failing to execute, or commands being delayed.
- We are not liable for any consequences resulting from Pentair's, Zodiac Group's, or any manufacturer's API changes, outages, access restrictions, or integration discontinuation.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three (3) months preceding the claim.
You acknowledge that you should never rely solely on a voice assistant or app for safety-critical pool operations and should always have manual or physical overrides available.
6. Account & Access
- You must have a valid account with your pool system's manufacturer (Pentair, Zodiac/Jandy, or other supported system) to use this Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used in an abusive or fraudulent manner.
- We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion with reasonable notice, except in cases of security concerns where immediate action is required.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass, or abuse the Service or Pentair's systems.
- Share your account credentials or API key with third parties.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
8. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Clark County, Nevada.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
